Use Bluebook practice to learn the version available in the testing environment. The goal is familiarity: you should know how to enter an expression, inspect a graph, and return to the question without a scramble.

When Desmos often earns its time
Desmos can be especially helpful when a question is naturally about intersections, roots, a changing function, a table that can be modeled, or a relationship you want to check visually. It can also be a fast verification tool after you have already built the equation. In each case, the calculator is serving a representation you understand.
Before entering anything, say what you expect to see. Which variable belongs on which axis? What value are you trying to find? What would count as the relevant intersection or output? That small prediction protects you from producing a correct-looking graph that answers a different question.
When not to reach for it first
Skip the tool when the arithmetic or algebra is shorter than setup, when a clean structural observation settles the question, or when a quick estimate eliminates choices. A calculator can hide a simple relationship inside more keystrokes. It can also consume time if you use it to search rather than to test a model.
Use scratch work to identify the relationship before graphing. This is not anti-calculator advice. It is what makes the calculator reliable: you are asking a precise question instead of hoping the screen reveals one.

Before you graph, finish this sentence: “I am entering ___ because I need to find/check ___.” If the second blank is unclear, represent the problem on paper first.
How to practise the decision
Take a small set of Math questions and solve each one with your first reasonable method. Then ask whether Desmos would have been faster, clearer, or merely different. On a second pass, try the better method and record the cue that should trigger it. Over time, build your own list of patterns where graphing helps—and a list where it slows you down.
